Hello! My name is Janice Marshall. I have been in the cleaning business since 1990. It was at that time that I realized I wanted to start a business where I could help people improve their lives. I wanted to offer a service that was personal, professional, and met a need within the local area. I discovered housekeeping was the perfect answer for me!
I have always been neat and organized, and like to clean. I love the way my home looks and feels after I have cleaned. It is always a refreshing feeling, and I thought, “why not share what I love to do and am good at with other people”?
Having lived in the Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond area since 1989, I have enjoyed watching how the area has grown and change. I knew I wanted to serve the Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, Medina community.
My very first client was a large home in Bellevue. I worked hard to give them the same attention to detail that I gave to my own home, and it worked! Not only were they extremely satisfied with my work, they became my first “retainer” clients. I was so happy! Word spread quickly about my cleaning services and within six months, I was working full time!
In 1994, I started taking on more clients and hiring people to work with me. What a change! I enjoyed teaching people cleaning techniques, educating them about service and products, scheduling, and watching my small business grow.
As the new century approached, so did new ideas. Being open to change, I began to research different products for cleaning that were better for the environment, healthier for the consumer, and less toxic overall. I started finding new products that worked even better than my old ones! I slowly started introducing new products, with a strong focus on the environment. Educating my clients became a priority. I wanted them to know that even though the products were changing, their level of service would be better and safer! This is so important as many of our clients have children and pets that we adore and want them to be healthy.
I continued to concentrate on my business and family. I loved being able to take care of my daughter, watching her grow, and become a beautiful young woman. I loved being my own boss, even through the recession when times were tough. I could have traded in my business for a regular job, but the thought never crossed my mind. I decided to work with my clients, doing what I could to help them maintain their service through hard times.
As a result of my client interaction, I realized I loved people, and again, wanted to do more for my community. I started doing volunteer work with other parents and found it to be a very rewarding experience. I still volunteer for this organization today.
Today, my business is thriving. I am so proud to be working along side my daughter, Jacqueleen, who has grown into a responsible young adult. Together, we are currently running The Cleaning Company NW, LLC. We have expanded our company to include chore and personal services. Our business is continuing to grow at a rapid rate and we are loving it! We continue to offer the same great service to the individuals and families in the Bellevue, Kirkland, Woodinville, Bothell, Medina community.
